On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Poetry,” Atlanta’s most prolific wordsmiths discuss the art of evoking emotions with words. This edition of “Speaking of Poetry” features erotic poet Talor’d Tales. Tales describes her poetry as revolutionary, raw and empowering.

Poetry found Talor’d Tales in 2015 when she was at the lowest point of her life.

“I believed I had no other options and I tried to take my life,” the poet said. “And in doing so, a pen and a paper became my best friends. They listened with intent, they didn’t listen to judge me. They weren’t listening to respond. They saw me… and poetry became my therapist.”

In this segment, Talor’d Tales shares an excerpt from a poem titled “Running Me Dry.”

I Present to you colorful conversations with insightful connotations

Paradigm shifting woman — she’s the vaccination

A very slick tongue without hesitation

Her words be weapons, leaving abrasions
