Flannery O’Connor’s Andalusia Farm Gifted To Georgia College

The final home of Flannery O’Connor is under new management.
The Savannah-born author spent the last 13 years of her life on the middle Georgia dairy farm known as Andalusia.
O’Connor completed her best-known works there, including the short story collection “A Good Man Is Hard To Find.”
But the small Flannery O’Connor Andalusia Foundation has struggled to maintain the 500-acre site on donations alone.
The organization’s board’s president Donna Barwick says the property is being gifted to Georgia College, which can better afford the upkeep and is committed to helping its students and other visitors to Andalusia learn about O’Connor, her work and the landscape that inspired her.
College President Steve Dorman says the school, which O’Connor attended, will “share this piece of American history with the world.”
