Rumors about Monday’s solar eclipse are flying around the internet.
The latest: Some schools are closing to protect against liability if kids look straight at the sun.
Astronomy educator Stephen Ramsden says just because there is an eclipse, it doesn’t mean the sun is going to be any brighter that day.
“There is a lot of fear, internet-hoax types, going on. There is absolutely nothing any more or less safe about a solar eclipse than any other time of the year,” says Ramsden, director and founder of Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project.
