The proposal also includes two hourly services to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, with one starting at the 985 Park & Ride in Buford and the other beginning in Snellville.

Houston County commissioners called Talton the longest-serving sheriff not only in Georgia, but in the United States, when they honored him Tuesday.
Talton — a former dairy farmer who had served as county commissioner in the middle Georgia county — was elected sheriff in 1972. At the time, the county’s population was about 63,000 people. It now has nearly 170,000.

For four days in 1906, from Sept. 22-25, dozens of Black Atlantans were killed and several more wounded by white mobs in what is now known as the Atlanta Race Massacre.
The documentary premieres on WABE-TV on Sept. 24, with The National Center for Civil and Human Rights hosting a public screening at the Gathering Spot ATL on Sept. 22.

It’s the Out of Darkness Community Walk.
According to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Atlanta Out of the Darkness Walks has raised $4 million since the first one took place in 2003.
The walk itself will consist of a nearly two-mile track inside Piedmont Park and will include a memory wall, where people are welcome to bring photos of their loved ones and inscribe messages of love, encouragement and hope.
