Atlanta-based comedian Nicole Blue got out of her own way to create a successful career path
On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Comedy,” Atlanta’s funniest locals share insights on the perks and perils of their profession. This edition features Atlanta-based comedian Nicole Blue.
Blue first got into comedy after several years of doing Karaoke.
“I was in there tearing up all kinds of songs, making my own words to songs, and making people laugh. I was approached by a comedian who then asked me had I ever considered doing standup,” Blue says. “It went from one open mic to a book show to another book show, and it snowballed into something marvelous, and here I am today!”
The biggest challenge in the comedy industry for Blue was herself, getting out of her own way and believing in herself. She used to be her own worst critic and had to build up the confidence to be able to be herself. Her newfound belief is that either you will like her or love her.
