Tributes to former Georgia and U.S. first lady Rosalynn Carter were held in Atlanta on Monday and Tuesday, drawing family, friends, all five living first ladies, multiple presidents, numerous local and national officials and everyday fans.
An ailing Jimmy Carter — her 99-year-old husband who entered hospice nine months ago — even made it to one service, wrapped in a blanket with Rosalynn’s face on it.
The tributes started Monday morning as Rosalynn Carter’s casket traveled by motorcade through the Carters’ hometown of Plains, Georgia, then moved on to a wreath-laying ceremony at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus.
Atlanta was next as the motorcade arrived at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum, where she lied in repose as members of the public paid their respects.
On Tuesday, a tribute service to Rosalynn Carter was held at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Emory University.
