Randal “Quran” Reid, 29, of Atlanta, blames flawed facial recognition technology for linking him to a crime in Louisiana – a state he says he’s never been to.
In November 2022, Reid was arrested in DeKalb County – accused of fraudulently purchasing thousands of dollars’ worth of designer handbags near New Orleans in the summer of 2022.
Reid is now suing in federal court, and he’s among many people of color who claim to have been falsely arrested because of facial recognition technology.
