Atlanta Symphony Orchestra kicks off the new year with two performances of Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons'

“We feel the chill north winds coarse through the home despite the locked and bolted doors. This is winter, which nonetheless brings its own delights.”

Those words appear in the score of Vivaldi’s masterpiece, “The Four Seasons,” and among winter’s own delights in our city will be performances of Vivaldi’s popular work by members of the Atlanta Symphony with the Orchestra’s concertmaster, David Coucheron, as soloist and conductor. The concerts take place on Jan. 3 in Symphony Hall and on Saturday, Jan. 6 at Spivey Hall.

“Every time I play the Vivaldi Four Seasons, I’m reminded of its beauty and its simple beauty. It’s an old piece, but I think it resonates with the audience because it’s so easy to understand what he is depicting,” said Coucheron. “I love ‘The Four Seasons,’ and I think it’s some of the most beautiful music ever written.”
