Nearly 100 electric companies are operating in The Peach State. Georgia law requires some utility companies to delay disconnections for customers dealing with serious and costly illnesses.
However, many small electric providers are not required to adhere to that policy. A new ProPublica investigation looks at the impact of not having this regulation in place.
