A zoo and safari attraction is planned on roughly 500 acres off Interstate 20, about an hour east of Atlanta.

According to this week’s Atlanta Business Chronicle, it would be called the Georgia Safari Conservation Park, the attraction would feature a drive through safari experience, a traditional walk-through zoo and “treetop” lodging, according to its website.

The walk-through zoo would be set up with exhibits showcasing five continents: Africa, Asia, Australia, North and South America, says its website. The project could also include 80 lodging units and amusements such as a zipline, ropes course and carousel, according to documents submitted in Morgan County.

If complete, the Georgia Safari Conservation Park could boost the state’s zoological offerings that today include two large institutions, the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta.
