While running for office, Phillips will be found on the Democratic ballot. Outside of former President Donald Trump, 10 other candidates will appear on the Republican ballot in Georgia. However, despite their appearances on the ballot, all have dropped out of the race except for Haley and Trump.
Early voting for the primaries, which appropriately enough began on President’s Day, lasts for three weeks, ending on March 8. After which, Georgia voters will have the opportunity on March 12 to cast their vote to determine the Democratic and Republican nominees.
#2. Federal regulators are pushing back on a Georgia Power plan for storing coal ash. Which environmental agency approved the plan in November 2023?
It’s the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
In Georgia, it’s up to EPD to make sure that the tens of millions of tons of coal ash in the state are stored according to the federal standards.
In a letter last week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency echoed concerns raised by environmental advocates about the ash from a retired coal-fired power plant in North Georgia.

The organization, founded in Atlanta 35 years ago, connects friends of the park groups – neighbor groups that support parks – with funding.
The grants are allocated to 37 parks and are geographically spread throughout all of Atlanta’s city council districts, with a few locations in DeKalb County.

The Alabama ruling last Friday by the all-Republican court comes from a pair of wrongful death lawsuits filed by several couples who underwent in vitro fertilization, or IVF. In 2020, their frozen embryos were destroyed in an accident at a fertility clinic.
With Georgia being a neighboring state, patients and providers are raising questions about future options.
