Music Midtown is going away again for the foreseeable future.
Organizers announced on the event’s official social media accounts on Wednesday that the music festival will not return this year.
“After producing legendary festivals over the past three decades that drew music fans across the globe, we want to share that Music Midtown is going on hiatus this year,” the post said.
Organizers did not list a reason for the hiatus. WABE has reached out to them for comment.
This isn’t the first time the event has taken years off since launching in 1994. There was a six-year hiatus in the early aughts. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the event to be canceled in 2020.
Live Nation called it off again in 2022 but did not specify a reason. Many Democratic leaders claimed the cancellation was economic fallout from Georgia’s gun law that limited the ability of private companies to ban guns on public property.
The festival returned in 2023 with headliners including P!nk, Billie Eilish, The 1975 and Guns N’ Roses.
A previous version of this story incorrectly said that the first Music Midtown festival took place in Piedmont Park. The story has been updated.
