There is still no clear winner in Georgia’s Republican runoff for Lieutenant Governor.
Unofficial results show former State Rep. Geoff Duncan leading State Sen. David Shafer by just over 1,741 votes after Tuesday’s runoff vote, but there are more provisional ballots than separate the two candidates.
A survey of five Metro counties shows at least 2,511 provisional ballots still need to be counted and added to the total by 5 p.m. Friday.
Because the margin separating the two candidates is smaller than one percent, David Shafer can request a recount of the vote once it has been certified by the Secretary of State’s office.
His campaign said it is looking at the provisional ballot situation.
