The Georgia World Congress Center is about to undergo a sizable expansion.
About 100,000 square feet will be added to connect buildings B and C of the convention center in Atlanta.
Gov. Nathan Deal spoke Tuesday at the groundbreaking and said the expansion makes Atlanta an even better destination for big events.
“Just wait until this is completed and we see those even larger conventions and trade shows that will come and utilize the facilities,” Deal said. “We will all truly understand and our visitors will understand that Atlanta, Georgia, is indeed the capital of the Southeast.”
The expansion will give the center 1 million contiguous square feet to host events.
