Damon Hoyte, the only Black county commissioner in rural Chattahoochee County, plans to sue his fellow county commissioners for discrimination over a land use dispute.

Despite similar manufactured homes surrounding his property, several community members and his fellow commissioners opposed Hoyte moving his own manufactured home on his property.

Hoyte also believes his case involves a conflict of interest with the county’s magistrate judge, previously the planning and zoning chair, who advised Hoyte on his property.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Rose talks with Commissioner Hoyte and his attorney, Kamau Mason, about the lawsuit and why they believe Judge Johnny Floyd should have recused himself from overseeing the citation Hoyte received to move his manufactured home.
