This Labor Day weekend, spectators will gather in downtown Atlanta for the annual Dragon Con Parade. The free event is a highlight of the weekend’s multi-genre convention held in downtown Atlanta every year.

Dragon Con takes place from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3 and a record attendance of 85,000 people is expected as fans travel to the event from all over the country and other parts of the world, according to a press release. During the weekend, downtown Atlanta will be bustling with cosplayers, fans and other enthusiastic conventiongoers.

The parade will attract crowds, too, and spectators will line the streets. So, if you’re thinking about attending this year, be sure to plan ahead.

Dragon Con says parking in downtown will be tight and recommends that parade watchers make use of MARTA, which has three stations located near the parade’s route: North Avenue, Civic Center and Peachtree Center.

You can also reserve a parking space for any day of the convention through Spot Hero, which Dragon Con regularly recommends for those planning to drive themselves.

The parade itself begins Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. Parade participants will start at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Linden Avenue, according to Dragon Con media relations.

They will march down Peachtree Street and turn left onto Andrew Young International Boulevard. They will continue for a block and turn left, again, onto Peachtree Center Avenue. The parade will end on Peachtree Center Avenue in front of one of Dragon Con’s host hotels, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Dragon Con’s parade will also be broadcast live by Atlanta’s CW69 and will be rebroadcast during prime time, media relations said.
