'We're stuck in this vicious cycle': Georgia GOP former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan on endorsing Kamala Harris

One person watching the current political landscape very closely is Republican former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan.

Duncan took a back seat to public office when he decided not to run for re-election in 2022. He willingly put himself in timeout after angering fellow Republicans, after he openly contradicted former president Donald Trump’s false claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Duncan felt disenfranchised and set out on a mission to heal his party with an advocacy organization called GOP 2.0.

Two years later, Duncan is back where he started, frustrated with his beloved party. He’s endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for this November’s presidential race. He made that clear in a fiery Atlanta Journal-Constitution opinion article that was published just days before Harris’ first Atlanta rally since her presidential bid announcement.

“Though my support for Harris didn’t come easily, it did come naturally,” Duncan wrote. “She’s the best vehicle toward preventing another stained Trump presidency.”

Duncan discussed all this on WABE’s “Morning Edition.”
