Laura Ardan is an illustrious artist who served as principal clarinetist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) during her 39-year tenure, holding the endowed Robert Shaw Chair. Still, more recognition came in 2018 when the ASO awarded her the Mabel Dorn Reeder Honorary Chair.
On top of being a featured soloist with Atlanta’s orchestra in numerous works spanning three centuries, she was a devoted teacher, played with leading chamber ensembles, and spent summers performing with prestigious festivals, including Aspen, Tanglewood, Mostly Mozart, Grand Teton and Santa Fe.
Ardan joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes via Riverside to celebrate 50 years of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on WABE.
“I think about all of these music directors and how they made this great orchestra into what it is today,” the seasoned musician said.
