In a major upset, Atlanta United eliminated Inter Miami from the MLS playoffs, winning 3-2 in a thrilling Game 3. Atlanta’s Jamal Thiaré scored twice, and Bartosz Slisz netted the game-winner with a header in the 76th minute.

Jason Longshore is a color commentator for Atlanta United and he joined “All Things Considered” to talk about the Five Stripes’ comeback victory and what’s next for the underdog team.

Miami, led by Lionel Messi, entered the playoffs as the top seed but couldn’t overcome Atlanta’s strong defense, said Longshore. That’s despite Messi tying the game at 2-2 in the second half. Messi had two chances to equalize with free kicks late in the game, but both were blocked by Atlanta’s defense.

Atlanta will now face Orlando City in the next round.
