2024 Building Black Business report emphasizes connection and partnerships

The Morehouse Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (MIEC) recently marked its 20th anniversary with the release of the “Building Black Business Report 2024.” This 18-month study looks at challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs in Atlanta and offers insights on how they overcome them.

Dr. Tiffany Bussey, the founding director of MIEC, leads these efforts and joined “All Things Considered” to talk about the report. She emphasized that partnerships and collaboration have been key to the center’s success in boosting Black-owned businesses.

She said since its founding in 2004, MIEC has helped over 400 small businesses owned by entrepreneurs of color. The center has supported businesses in generating over $255 million in revenue and securing $35 million in capital. It has also created more than 800 new jobs and helped businesses win over 600 contracts.
