Amazon says it will open a new warehouse facility in the Atlanta area that will create 1,000 jobs.
Amazon and Gov. Brian Kemp made the announcement Wednesday.
Amazon will lease a built-to-suit 700,000-square-foot fulfillment center covering acreage in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties.
Georgia lost the bid for Amazon’s second headquarters last year, but state officials are hopeful the warehouse development could be a prelude for more investment.
Amazon already has a 4,000-employee workforce in Georgia that includes at least 250 tech jobs.
