Atlanta’s Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza could be opening their doors as early as Friday.
They are two of the seven Simon Property Group locations in Georgia that will go back to business — but not as usual — on May 1, according to an internal memo obtained by CNBC. The properties have been closed since March 18 to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
May 1 is the day after Georgia’s stay-at-home order expires, and Gov. Brian Kemp is still evaluating whether he will reinstate it. Kemp enforced social distancing and closed nonessential businesses, such as clothing stores.
Soon, it will be up to retailers inside of Simon properties to decide if they will reopen.
Georgia’s Simon locations, such as The Mall of Georgia, Sugarloaf Mills, Town Center at Cobb, North Georgia Premium Outlets and the Calhoun Outlet Marketplace, are home to hundreds of retailers.
