Out Front Theatre Company’s ‘Standing On Ceremony’ is a celebration of marriage equality

In celebration of the landmark ruling by the Supreme Court that legalized gay marriage across the United States, and to honor the closing week of Pride Month, Out Front Theatre Company is staging a virtual production of “Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays.” The production is a collection of nine short plays and monologues that each give different perspectives and voices to the universal theme of equality.

The event begins with “The Revision” by Jordan Harrison, which is a pointed commentary on the legal no man’s land that same sex marriage occupied at the time of its release. “The Gay Agenda” is a biting satire of people who oppose marriage equality. The event closes with “Pablo and Andrew at the Altar of Words” by Jose Rivera which follows one couple as they exchange their vows as loved ones look on.
