Former Morehouse President Robert Franklin wants to represent Georgia’s 5th Congressional District in Washington D.C.
He’s one of seven candidates vying to fill the remainder of the late John Lewis‘ unexpired term in Congress.
Franklin is now a professor at Emory University and teaches a course in moral leadership.
He told Lisa Rayam, host of WABE’s “Morning Edition,” just how that factors into him running for office.
“I think two compelling agenda items are before all of us in the 5th District and, to some extent, all of Georgia and the nation,” Franklin said. “No. 1 — honoring John Lewis. No. 2 — providing voice and vote at a critical time in the nation’s history, approaching a significant presidential election.”
