All eyes are on Georgia as absentee ballots continue to be counted for the 2020 general election.
Georgia is among several key states where election officials are still counting ballots. In the presidential race early Friday, former Vice President Joe Biden gained a lead over President Donald Trump in the state of Georgia.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced Friday that due to the small margin of votes between Biden and Trump, there would be a recount.
Emory University political science professor Andra Gillespie joined “Closer Look” on Friday.
Gillespie talked with host Rose Scott about several election-related topics, including the processing of outstanding ballots, Biden’s gains in several historical Republican states including Georgia, Stacey Abrams’ efforts to register voters in the Peach State and Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoff races.
