ProPublica Report: Many States, Including Georgia, To Face Challenges Distributing COVID-19 Vaccine

On “Closer Look,” Isaac Arsndorf, a reporter with ProPublica, talked about their recently released report reviewing each state’s plan to distribute a future COVID-19 vaccine.

On Monday, the biotech company Moderna announced its new coronavirus vaccine appears to be 94.5% effective, based on results from clinical trials.

This came a week after Pfizer announced its vaccine appears to be effective, too.

Still, even after the vaccine is tested and approved, some questions still remain, including: How prepared are states to distribute a COVID-19 vaccine?

The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asked states to submit their plans for distribution in early November.

Shortly after, ProPublica reviewed each state’s plan.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” host Rose Scott spoke with Isaac Arsndorf, a reporter with ProPublica who recently released a report reviewing the plans. The report found most states, including Georgia, face many challenges, including distributing to rural areas.
