Just three weeks into the launch of a new eviction prevention program for renters in Gwinnett County, people overseeing Project RESET say they’ve received 700 applications.
The CARES Act-funded program that works directly with landlords and renters was started out of a partnership between the Gwinnett County Magistrate Court, Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and HomeFirst Gwinnett Initiative.
Matt Elder, the director of the HomeFirst Gwinnett Initiative and Chief Magistrate Judge of Gwinnett County Kristina Hammer, joined Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
They talked with show host Rose Scott about the application process, eligibility requirements and how the program was strategically designed to help prevent imminent evictions and keep tenants stably housed during the global health crisis.
The program is expected to continue through the end of 2020. For more information, call 770-847-6765 or email MagistrateCourtProjectRESET@gwinnettcounty.com.
