Pent-up demand and marque talent.
Those are just a couple reasons why organizers are preparing for sellout attendance at the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this fall. The series returns with defending champion University of Alabama slated to face the University of Miami on Sept. 4, and the University of Louisville playing Ole Miss on Sept. 6 (Labor Day).
Three Kickoff games, which were to mark the start of the college football season, unraveled last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the downtown stadium allowing full capacity starting May 15, Peach Bowl Inc. CEO and President Gary Stokan says he expects to have over 71,000 fans back in the stands — which would mark a sellout for the 12th time in the last 14 years.
