Atlanta Mayor-elect Andre Dickens is expected to be sworn in January.

Just one week after defeating Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore in a runoff election, Dickens, who has served as the Atlanta City Council Post 3 at-large representative since 2013, was a guest on Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

Dickens talked with program host Rose Scott about his road to victory and the moment he recently received a phone call from President Joe Biden.

“The president called and said my name and he said congratulations Mayor-elect Andre Dickens, he said, you know, that was a resounding victory, I don’t think I’ve seen anybody win in that kinda margin as a first-time candidate,” said Dickens.

During the conversation, Dickens, who grew up in Adamsville, discussed several topics, including why he opposes the Buckhead cityhood movement and his plans to address public safety, affordable housing and poverty in Atlanta.

“I’m going to make sure I solve problems for the citizens of Atlanta with their help,” said Dickens.
