Advocates for “City of Lakeside” Commission Feasibility Study
The group that wants to create a new city in north DeKalb County called Lakeside says has raised enough money to take the next step: commissioning a feasibility study.
The Lakeside City Alliance has raised $30,000 and has hired the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia to conduct the study.
The study should take four to five months to complete. Alliance members say, if the study indicates the area should incorporate, the group would work to get that on the ballot as early as next summer.
The proposed new city covers about 20 square miles.
It’s bounded by North Druid Hills Road to the south, Interstate 85 to the west, and the Embry Hills community to the northeast.
