AJC investigative report into Georgia prison guards

A new investigative report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has found widespread corruption in Georgia prisons.

Faced with staffing shortages and low pay, correctional departments across the prison system are finding employees susceptible to being manipulated into smuggling contraband.

Items like drugs and cell phones are contributing to the violence both inside and out.

AJC investigative reporter Carrie Teegardin joined WABE’s “All Things Considered” to talk about her reporting and said the problem seems to be getting worse.

Christopher Alston contributed to this report.
