All eyes on Georgia as Trump faces indictment in Fulton County

Former President Donald Trump sits at the defense table with his legal team in a Manhattan court, April 4, 2023, in New York. Only 4 in 10 U.S. adults believe Trump acted illegally in New York, where he has been charged in connection with hush money payments made to women who alleged sexual encounters, according to a new poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Former President Donald Trump is expected to be indicted in Fulton County soon for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

For the last two and a half years, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been investigating whether Trump and allies tried to interfere with Georgia’s election results.

Willi is expected to present her case before a grand jury before Sept 1.

If Trump is indicted in Georgia, this will be Trump’s fourth indictment.

Extra security measures are being put into place, and roads are being blocked off in downtown Atlanta near the Fulton County Courthouse.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” WABE politics reporters Sam Gringlas and Rahul Bali talked with show host Rose Scott about the developing story.
