New show from game-changing dance company hits the Fox
Atlanta, Ga – The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater began in New York in 1958 and has been an innovative, perception-changing force in American dance ever since.
Under the guidance of Artistic Director Judith Jamison, 18 year company member Matthew Rushing created a new show while recuperating from an injury that kept him off the stage. Entitled Uptown, the show is a vibrant tour through the Harlem Renaissance era in all its boisterous, swinging glory, incorporating the works of Langston Hughes, Josephine Baker, Fats Waller, and many others.
