Author Laura Murray loves her native state of Georgia so much, she created a coloring book about it.

Amazing Georgia” takes you through Georgia’s 159 counties with featured places, plants, and monuments that make each county special. The book is set to release on Sept. 1. This was a follow up to her coloring book “Amazing Alabama,” which was released in 2017.

“With my first book, Amazing Alabama, there were only 67 counties, so it made sense to give each county it’s own page. Since Georgia has 159 counties, I knew the book was going to have to be laid out differently,” said Murray.

Some of the pages may be doubled or tripled up on counties, but they each have their own fun history fact.

“The unknown bits of history really peaked my interest. There’s a website called ‘Roadside America’ that is great for finding weird facts about places that your traveling,” said Murray.

She is currently working on her third coloring book “Amazing South Carolina.”

Murray will have several appearances at the Decatur Book Festival:

  • •Saturday at 12, She will be at tent 405 (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) giving a book talk called “Color Your Quest – Deep South Explorations For Families”. That talk is about combining education with art on your next “southern” family road trip.
  • •Saturday at 2:30, She will be doing a live sketch-up with another children’s book illustrator, Shanda McClosky in tent 405 (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators)
  • •Sunday at 5pm, She will be on the main stage in the Decatur Library on a panel called “Traveling The Fascinating South“.
