The Georgia chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is holding its annual spring fundraiser on Sunday, April 14, at Monday Night Garage.
The Party for Prevention aims to raise funds for the foundation’s work in research, advocacy, education and support to reduce suicide.
Rebecca Stachnik is a Midtown resident and a board member for AFSP’s Georgia chapter. She joined “All Things Considered” to discuss what motivated her to get involved in the work.
Stachnick said she was impacted personally by suicide at a young age, and it changed her life forever. She said while there is still significant stigma, society has come a long way in dealing with mental health issues.
