Another Rise in Meningitis Cases
The Centers for Disease Control is confirming more cases of fungal infection in sixteen states, due to contaminated steroid injections.
There’s now 254 cases of fungal meningitis plus three cases of peripheral joint infections. The first case has been reported in New York. 20 people have died.
CDC spokesperson Curtis Allen says so far, there’s been no confirmed cases in Georgia. “There are 75 centers that provided these injections in 23 states. Fortunately, there is only one center in Georgia, and that is in Macon.”
Allen says if your concerned about the injections, to check the CDC website.
The three lots of medicine that are at the center of the investigation have been recalled.
