Decaturish founder discusses acquisition by Appen Media

Decaturish.com is under new ownership. Appen Media, a local and family-owned newspaper company has purchased the publication and its assets.

Dan Whisenhunt, the founder and editor of Decaturish.com, says the deal will provide the publication with more resources, positioning the news outlet to expand and publish a newspaper. Under the new ownership, Whisenhunt and his team will keep their jobs and the outlet will remain a locally owned news outlet.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look with Rose Scott,” Whisenhunt and Carl Appen, the director of content and development at Appen Media, discussed what the arrangement means for the future of both of their news outlets.
