Fort MacPherson has been transformed in the past few years by the film industry. Now a group of Atlanta artists are hoping to transform it a little further with an arts festival.
The ARTlanta Fair will take over the grounds for four days this month with gallery shows featuring the works of over fifty artists, panel discussions, as well as DJ sets and carnival rides.
ARTlanta founder Tyree Smith tells “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes that he hoped to bring the energy of festivals like Coachella and Art Basel to the city.
“I see so much talent from Atlanta running everywhere to get a shine,” he says. “I felt like Atlanta needed to create a platform where we could get a shine.”
In addition to their programming and the rides and games, the Fair is partnering with the non-profit Book Bank Foundation and will be accepting donations of art supplies.
