Assistant Fulton County District Attorney Shot in Southwest Atlanta

A Fulton County assistant district attorney was shot near a home on Fairway Circle in Southwest Atlanta and has been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police are not releasing the name of the assistant district attorney and are not giving details about the shooter. Atlanta Police Captain Paul Guerrucci says the assistant district attorney and a male victim were shot inside a Honda in front of a home on Fairway Circle before 11 a.m. this morning. He says the shooter may have been lying in wait for the victims. “We believe both the victims that received the gunshot injuries were inside the vehicle, multiple shots fired. We believe that there was only one perpetrator, that window of the vehicle was blown out.”

Guerrucci says police do not believe the shootings were related to the assistant district attorney’s work but were domestic in nature. “That’s our strongest possibility at this time.” Guerrucci says the assistant district attorney sustained multiple gunshot wounds and the male victim was shot in the face. Police have been working multiple crime scenes but do not have a suspect in custody. There’s no word on the victims’ conditions.
