On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Art,” local artists share insights into their influences, processes and experiences in town. This edition focuses on Atlanta multimedia artist Treyvian Dowell.
Treyvian Dowell creates artwork that blends the abstract and figurative across a variety of mediums – media such as colored pencils, oil paint, and paper. The results are, according to Dowell, “explosive, dynamic, figurative portraits, some of them zoomed in on the face, others, a more full body view.”
Dowell has been engaged with art for the majority of his life, starting in grade school in Americus, GA and continuing with a BFA in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking during his college years at Georgia State University. Since graduating from GSU, Dowell has hosted a solo show at MINT Gallery as a Leap Year artist and is currently a featured artist at Kai-Lin Art as part of “Whimsy and Wander.”
