Atlanta band Breathers bring a warm, '80's synth-pop vibe

On City Lights’ series “Speaking of Music,” local musicians share work and stories in their own voices. In today’s segment, we feature Atlanta pop band Breathers.

The band features T. Lee Gunselman and Jake Thompson on vocals and keys, with Mike Netland providing live drums and sequencing. Their sound hearkens back to the 80’s synth-pop wave, with drum machine-driven beats laid under classic digital synthesizer leads and chords.

The band recently released a music video for their single, ‘Some Kind of Fool‘ and according to Gunselman, the band is “currently working on a full-length record at Chase Park in Athens… We also have a show coming up July 13 at 529 in East Atlanta Village with Suede Cassidy and Taylor Alexander.”
