On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Poetry,” Atlanta’s most prolific wordsmiths discuss the art of evoking emotions with words. This edition of “Speaking of Poetry” features poet and spoken word artist Rewop.

“I write erotic poetry. I write revolutionary poetry. I write any type of poetry for any type of thing, depending on where it’s needed,” Rewop said.

Whether writing or performing her poetry, Rewop credits God.

“None of my words are mine, in my opinion,” Rewop says. “They’re all God, the Most High, and I give thanks for that.”

In this segment, Rewop shared an excerpt from a poem she wrote called “I Can Tell You.” The poem inspires others to be the best that they can be.

Rewop chose to call Atlanta home because of the amount of Black groups and organizations here.

“In Atlanta, it’s a Black group, a Black meeting place, a Black club night for it, it’s a Black something!” Rewop exclaimed. “If I’m skateboarding, I can go to a meeting, a group, and it’s us doing it! And that is why I am here, and I love everything about it.”
