Atlanta BeltLine presents exhibition honoring 'sister city' of Lagos, Nigeria
Fifty years ago, Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson designated Lagos, Nigeria, as a “sister city.” The partnership in cultural exchange is honored this year with a 10-week artist residency and exhibition.
“Atlanta BeltLine Presents: LagosAtlanta: Sister City Rising” brings two multimedia artists from Nigeria — Taiye Idahor and Kainebi Osahenye — to create new work in Atlanta, meet and educate our art community, and unveil their installations along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Westside Trail in April.
Joining Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” is the residency and exhibition curator Lauren Tate Baeza to tell us more about this extraordinary 50-year intercity partnership and the artists who’ve come to help us celebrate.
