Eugene Jones, the president and CEO of Atlanta Housing, says his agency received feedback from the community, conducted evaluations and had high hopes of developing the 14-acre Atlanta Civic Center site into a mixed-use space.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Jones talked with program host Rose Scott about being blindsided by Tishman Speyer’s recent decision to withdraw its deal to redevelop the Old Fourth Ward building.

Jones further explained that his team is prepared to move forward with the redevelopment of the 50-year-old property that has sat vacant for several years.

Jones said that two other developers are being considered to develop the property that Atlanta Housing purchased in 2017.

“We are always going to be a partner within our community,” said Jones.
