Atlanta Police Chief George N. Turner is heading to Washington to testify before Congress about homeland security funding.
The Police Department says Turner will appear before a House subcommittee on homeland security preparedness, response and communications on Tuesday morning.
Speaking on behalf of the Major Cities Chiefs Association, Turner will discuss proposed reductions to homeland security grants contained in the Obama administration’s budget.
The subcommittee website says other planned witnesses include New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and representatives from emergency management and fire agencies.
