The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the city’s Department of Procurement posted a request for proposals for the future Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry on Tuesday. The park will be located on about 280 acres, adjacent to the Atlanta Beltline and surrounding the quarry.

Mayor Kasim Reed announced plans for the park two years ago, with the intent of creating a greenspace larger than the 185-acre Piedmont Park in midtown Atlanta.

The quarry site is being turned into a water reservoir that will provide a 30-day emergency supply of water.

A pre-proposal conference will be held Aug. 7 at City Hall, followed by a virtual site tour. Bids are due Sept. 7.
