Atlanta-based writer and organizer Micah Herskind says he wasn’t surprised Atlanta police have been monitoring his social media.

Herskind and Ann Hill Bond, an Atlanta-based journalist and chair of Fulton County Remembrance Coalition, were among the names of people and organizations mentioned in a new report from The Brennan Center For Justice.

Scott first discussed the report last week when she interviewed Spencer Reynolds, the senior counsel in the Brennan Center for Justice’s Liberty and National Security Program. The report looked at open records from the Atlanta Police Department.

According to the report, more than 2,300 pages of internal police records from APD show widespread surveillance of political activity, mainly focused on “Cop City” opponents.

The report mentioned Herskind several times for his association with anti- “Cop City” movements, and Bond’s organization, Fulton County Remembrance Coalition, was mentioned.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Bond and Herskind shared their reaction to being monitored by APD.
