When scores of Atlanta residents get together to discuss a single provocative book, you’re going to end up with a lot of opinions. That’s what WABE’s Kate Sweeney learned when she went to three different neighborhood reading groups for this year’s “Big Read” program.
The program, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, is meant bring communities together to rediscover reading for pleasure. This year, the Atlanta-Fulton County Library chose as its community page-turner, A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines.
