At age 25, Atlanta native Grant Lindsley abandoned everything he knew well to live in the wilderness and reconfigure his life following a tragedy. A vivid and funny account of that experience is detailed in “Mediocre Monk: A Stumbling Search for Answers in a Forest Monastery.”

In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks with the author about his new memoir and his experience in Thailand practicing the branch of Buddhism known as the Thai-Forest Tradition.

“This book is about how I took the hard road to what bits of understanding and insight that I was able to gather,” Lindsley said.
