Books with Philip Rafshoon: Hunt, Hagy & Rathburn

The AJC-Decatur Book Festival’s Philip Rafshoon, in for Daren Wang, drops by to fill us on the week’s book events.the broadcast version of this story that ran on City Cafe, March 25, 2013

On Tuesday Mar. 26, James B. Hunt, reads at the Georgia Center for the Book. He reads from his book Restless Fire, which provides a detailed rendering of environmentalist forefather John Muir’s thousand mile walk through the Southeast to the Gulf. The book particularly examines Muir’s witnessing of the impact of the Civil War on the region, as well as efforts towards Reconstruction.

On Wednesday Mar. 27, poet Chelsea Rathburn reads at Whitespace Gallery. Her second book, A Raft of Grief, probes the nuances of love and relationships and asks if a storyteller must sometimes “sacrifice lovers and selves to the narrative arc.”

On Thursday Mar. 28, blogger and cartoonist Jessica Hagy reads from a book that’s ultimately about exploring the world more fully. The book is called How to Be Interesting, and Hagy will appear at the Georgia Center for the Book at Decatur Library at 7:15 pm.
